Mohammad Almomani
I've been running my own businesses for fifteen years, nearly all of them around property — towers, malls, clinics, warehouses, a couple of gyms. I trained as a civil engineer first. People talk about build quality and return as if you have to choose one. I've never found that to be true — a building done properly is the building that performs.
A bit about me
I've run my own businesses for fifteen years — almost all of it around property. Designing it, building it, fitting it out, and the companies that do the work. Alongside that I've worked with development companies, taking projects from the first sketch through to handover and then staying on to run them afterwards, which is the part most people skip.
I trained as a civil engineer first and never really stopped being one. It means I'll argue about a slab detail and a cash flow in the same meeting — not because they're competing, but because they're the same conversation. A cheap decision shows up twice: once on site, and again on the running cost for the next thirty years.
Residential and commercial. Medical clinics. Malls. Sports gyms. Towers, warehouses, showrooms. Different problem every time, same job underneath — build it properly, and make sure it does what it was built to do. I also own a green building consultancy, mostly because how much a building wastes gets decided very early, on paper, by people who never see the bill.
I'm from Jordan, based in Abu Dhabi, and I work in Arabic, English and Russian.
Speaking
I talk about why build quality and return get treated as opposites when they aren't — how much of what a building costs and how well it performs is settled in the first few weeks on paper, and what changes when the person drawing it is also the one who has to live with the result.
